Crockpot Turbo Express

This is an electric pressure cooker. It does not have Air Fryer function, so it doesn’t  fully meet the criterion to be included here, but it is a very good and very good value unit in its own right. In these difficult times of rapidly rising energy costs, it is important to minimise the number of pans in use, on your hob, this multicooker will certainly do that

14 in 1 Cooking Functions

The 14 functions are listed below, so it’s easy to select and cook.

Basically the cooker functions both as a pressure and non-pressure cooker. In non-pressure cook mode you can simmer and slow cook. In PC mode you can significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to cook some dishes. Some less tender cuts of meat for example, cook brilliantly in the pressure cook mode.

What is a Pressure Cooker?

By putting a lid on the pan the steam will raise the pressure within the pan.

Raise the pressure and the boiling point is also raised, which cooks your food at a  higher than normal temperature. The time taken to cook food is reduced by up to 40%.

It’s the opposite to climbers on a mountain trying to cook, using standard camping gear, as the pressure is lower the higher you go, the food never reaches a high enough temp to cook properly.

The lid has a valve, calibrated to release pressure above a certain limit, to avoid the obvious danger of explosion. Don’t underestimate this! Steam engines were used for almost a century to drive our industries.

The Crockpot Turbo Controls

Here are the 14 modes, selected by the 8 buttons to the left of the display panel and the 6 buttons to the right:

Pressure Cooker:

  • manual
  • steam
  • rice/grains
  • Meat/Poultry
  • Beans/Chili
  • Desserts
  • Sterilise

Traditional Cooking ( Non Pressure)

  • Brown/Saute
  • Simmer
  • Sous Vide
  • Yoghurt
  • Slow Cook
  • Keep Warm

The convenience of the timer function, especially with the Crockpots “keep warm” feature, makes this a good choice. No longer do you have to watch over the cooking in the kitchen.

Safety Features

When releasing the steam, the valve and the control  are located at opposite sides of the lid, so you won’t risk scalding steam on your hands.

The lid will remain locked until all pressure is released.

The lid’s locking position is very clear to see on the top of the cooker. Easy to check.

Always look at the ready light, start your timer from when this goes out, then everything will be cooked through even on the fastest mode

Cleaning

The pot in which all food is cooked has a good non-stick coating. When using pressure cooker functions , as the unit operates with steam, it doesn’t create the hard baked-on food mess that makes cleaning difficult. It is easily cleaned in the dishwasher or with a soft cloth in the sink.

Really Cheap and Tasty Dog Food

Treat  your dog to top notch meals that he loves, prepared in next to no time with the turbo function.

This will reduce the cooking time by 50%. Cheap beef or Turkey mince plus a few leftover veggies can be a lot cheaper and more nutritious than tinned dog food and he will woof it up in no time… guaranteed

Conclusion & Recommendation

It is very rare for me to find so many positive reviews for a product. I have a bit of experience with pressure cookers, but even if you’re new to it, it looks like cooking with the Turbo Express model is very forgiving. And very safe, the interlock feature makes me confident I’m not going to find  scalding steam issuing out at high pressure.

Excellent product , Highly recommended  especially with high gas – electric prices upon us.
