Halogen Ovens and and introducing Dehydrators

Ingredients

Butter for greasing the bowl
75 ml (3fl oz) golden syrup
75g (3oz) suet
175g (6oz) self raising flour
50g (2oz) caster sugar
1 beaten egg
100ml (3.5floz) milk

Method

Altogether  this recipe should take 1hour 45. Fifteen minutes for preparation and about  one and a half hours to cook. First grease the basin ( about 1 Litre size ) . Mix the ingredients together until thoroughly combined , then spoon the mixture into the basin.

Cover the bowl with double layer baking parchment and secure with string. Cover this with tin foil. Set the basin in the bowl of the Halogen cooker and pour enough boiling water to come to a third of the way up pudding basin side

Set oven to 250c and steam for 1hr30 to 1hr 45 min or until it is  just firm to the touch and a knife inserted into the middle comes out clean. Leave in basin for 5 minutes then turn upside down on to a  serving plate.

Serving:   Dribble more  syrup on top and serve up with too much custard…then watch an old movie on the tv
