Reviews of the Best Halogen Ovens in US and Uk

Join the dehydrating revolution with the VonShef 5 Tier machine.

The VonShef represents good value although a couple of buyers reported its motor as being a bit loud, so ok if you have a separate kitchen, but a bit annoying if your house is open plan!

On Off switch – YES, Temperature Control – YES, Timer – NO

You will have to use an external timer for this model, no auto shutoff. Temperature Control: Why on earth did VonShef put 5 markers between 40 degrees and 70 degrees, surely 4 would have made setting it a lot easier

40,  50 ,60, 70 …. easy

40, 47.5, 55, 62.5,  70….. hmm , I don’t think they really thought about it, did they?

The top plastic layer  can be used at 2 heights , so larger items can be dried. They don’t look very robust, so I would stick to hand washing them after use, rather than dish washer,  but do their job ok. Maximum capacity on a layer is 1 Kg

What did buyers of the VonShef Dehydrator think about their purchase?

i wish I had bought one earlier, actually bought it for dog treats, so far done chicken and liver, it’s so easy to use, if anyone is thinking of buying one, get this one, fantastic!

So easy to use and also made my house smell lovely!
Noise wise it is quite loud… a bit like a quiet hairdryer.
Such a good way of keeping food longer and a great way of making my 9 year old eat fruit!

It came very well packaged and was easy to put together. A bit noisy in operation but so far I have found it efficient – dries chilli peppers very well, they go from my greenhouse to the machine and then I have chilli flakes for the winter and really good cayenne pepper.
The instruction manual could be a bit more helpful over time/temperature though (who dries Asparagus? but no mention of chillies).

Fantastic little machine . Though even though it fits comfortably on my kitchen worktop you can pack a lot in . I’ve personally bought two . One for meat and one for fruit . Great product . Also easy to clean which was important .

Overall then, not bad, lack of auto shutoff would put a few customers off , especially if you aren’t always at home, but it seems to do the job, I’m not sure how robust the shelves would be long term. One comment mentioned a problem where the plastic actually started to melt, go brittle and fall apart, but I would tend to say that’s probably a manufacturing fault and a one-off. Most users were happy with the results and certainly the price. The noisy fan was mentioned by quite a few. Review Rating 6/10
